It all started a long time ago with a few villagers and friends from the surrounding area, who decided to meet up once a week and paint.
The Hinxworth Art Society was born in 2002, when some established artists as well as some complete beginners got together. We currently have over 30 members of mixed abilities. Our regular meetings take place on Wednesdays from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Village Hall in Francis Road. The meetings are very relaxed and friendly. The membership subscription includes a cup of coffee or tea and biscuits while we paint.
We use various types of media such as watercolour, pen and wash, pastel, oils and acrylics. Our library has a growing collection of books, magazines and DVD’s for members to borrow. When a tutor is not available, we use each other’s experience for tips and advice on how to achieve the best results.
We organise regular workshops with visiting artists as well as outings to shows and exhibitions.
The annual exhibition, usually held in April each year, is always a great success.
