Speedtest.net has had a make over today. One of the new features on their site is the ability to create a speed wave. If you haven’t already created a profile on speedtest.net, go to the website, create a profile and then start participating in the Hinxworth and Edworth Speed Wave. The speed wave will record broadband speed results from Hinxworth and Edworth (providing you contribute) until the start of September. You can take part as many times as you like, but I wouldn’t recommend more than once an hour.
Fibre Broadband – Vote for your exchange now!
Lots of us in Hinxworth and Edworth complain about broadband speeds. Yes, speeds are better than they were when we only had dial-up, but it would be nice to be able to watch a video on iPlayer without the loading circle appearing every 10 minutes.
BT has made a site where we can vote for our exchanges and hopefully let BT know of our interest. The address is: http://www.racetoinfinity.bt.com/
Type in your postcode and click “Go.” It will then tell you which exchange you are on and you can vote for your exchange to be fibre enabled.
Next generation internet access
Are you fed up with the broadband in Hinxworth and Edworth (or Ashwell and surrounding areas)? Well now you can register your interest in “Next generation broadband” on a website which is gathering demand figures for the East of England – EREBUS
“The goal of EREBUS is to encourage commercial suppliers to invest in next generation broadband infrastructure in the East of England. It seeks to do this in a manner that does not favour any operator or competing technology. EREBUS builds upon the demand registration schemes of the past but takes them a stage further.”
So the more people that register the better chance North Herts has of receiving fibre broadband in the future
